The calves come when they are one day old, and usually stay until about 3 months old. This particular ranch, about 20% will go to dairy, and 80% will go to beef. Most of these cuties will end up on your plate. I stopped for lunch and am eating one right now.
Yum. Thanks, cows

(That does look like a tasty burger, though).

They arrive when they’re one day old? Here they aren’t even allowed to leave the farm they’re born on until they’re 2 weeks old.

That’s like no farm I ever saw in my life.

Farming, it seems, is
very
different in the drier parts of America. As I understand it cattle are fed throughout the year on what are called feedlots rather than being grazed.

I was scrolling down and appreciating the pictures.
When I saw the burger at the end, I absolutely lost it and started laughing pretty hard.
